Plein Air Painting (painting outside)

The outdoor studio provides an ever-changing model for artists. The impressionists brought this to life with their look into everyday scenes. Often overlooked, the Plein Air artist records them and shares their beauty with the world. Capturing a moment in time, and the atmosphere of the day, are just two of the main features of plein air artwork. 

1. Advanced registration and payment must be completed online before your in-person check-in.
2. Check-in is open on Friday, July 5th, & Saturday, July 6th from 7 am to 9 am, at the ClearWater Farmstand. 
3. Artists must provide all painting and protection materials needed for the two days events.
4. All registrants may participate in the 2-hour painting competition and the closing art exhibit and awards on Saturday, July 6. Competing is up to the individual artist, Each artist is responsible for providing their painting surface. Art surfaces can be prepared as needed by the artist (no pre-drawing allowed). Medium is the artist’s choice.
5. Artists can paint any subject/scene outdoors during the two days at the painting spots on the ClearWater Farm site. A tour of the farm’s locations will be on Friday, July 5th, and indicated on the farm map.
6. All artwork submitted for the judging (awards) must have been started and completed during the competition. 
7. Artists are asked to respect the farm workers during their days’ work and stay in designated areas (safety regulations).
8. Water stations will be set up for eco-friendly disposal of paint water, rag rinsing, and brush cleaning. Please consider the environmental impact your art supplies have, consider use ECO friendly rags instead of paper towels, and non-toxic solvents if using oil paints.
