Join Robert, a professional forester and member of the Chippewas of Georgina Island, for a 90-minute walk in ClearWater’s woods. Prior to our walk, we’ll review a booklet describing invasive species we expect to find (ie. Japanese Knotweed, Strangling Dog Vine, Garlic Mustard, Buckthorn). In the woods, we’ll identify commonly found tree species. Plants with historic medicinal or cultural value may be found. We’ll consider best management practices for the invasive species and might try some of them out ourselves. Please wear high-top shoes or boots with pants tucked into socks (ticks) and leather gloves (some plants have thorns). Hats are recommended.
Program best suited for age 10 & up. Sessions will run from 10am-11.30am or 1.30pm-3.00pm. Participation is $10 per family, payable onsite or pre-register to guarantee your spot.
